Nearing a Usable State

Just keeping this short since I really can’t provide much of anything but some really talented people have been working hard on the forums, so I’d suggest taking a peek.

And if you decide not to? Look forward to something soon. Really soon. I mean it (as long as nothing goes wrong)

Folks are getting really busy, which is to be expected. Finals are just beginning to wrap up, and those who happen to fall into younger school systems are going to be hitting the end of the year landslide very shortly. But of course coming very soon is summer, the land of free time and leisure.

So although there hasn’t been anything meaningful done yet, nor will anything happen right away, it should be coming soon.

Things are still…slow around here, so I thought I’d fill up that awful gap with a little something that I’ve been reading about recently. It’s not really related to us in any way, and it’s hardly even related to TF2…but hey who cares.

Recently a little bundle of a bunch of indie games went on sale on steam, which include a hat for TF2. When this pack went live, however, all the games received updates which turned out to be a number of hidden and cryptic images and messages. Of curse it just seemed like something silly when it happened so the people theorizing it meant something didn’t really receive a ton of attention. On Tuesday, however, the latest Portal 2 mini-trailer contained a cryptic message that actually went so far as to directly name a couple of people who began discovering and theorizing that the previous game updates meant something.

As of now things are still developing and are being better documented now that it’s been identified as an Alternate Reality Game (ARG). There’s a  post on steam’s official forums detailing all the updates and the story so far, located at http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1824635

There’s also a Wiki with more in-depth information on everything, as well as constant updates about new discoveries. It can be found at http://valvearg.info/wiki/Valve_ARG_Wiki

This is just something I thought I’d share. It’ll be interesting to see what it eventually leads to, or if it’s still part of the same ARG that lead to Portal 2’s announcement. I might even start a topic on the forums to follow it, although that might be unnecessary and it’s kind of late right now.

Just thought I’d share. As far as project stuff goes, the forum has a few snapshots of some model WIPs, and voice actors are showing off their stuff, but generally posting is quite low. Why not sign up and change that?

Not uploaded in the main art thread yet, but here’s the latest colored line art of the new designs.

Patchouli Sniper

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that this new page of ours is pretty lacking. While I did throw together some visuals and colors and call it a day, it’s pretty underwhelming. How do we fix that? Open the doors to every able bodied artist out there to come forward and contribute by helping us create visuals for the page.

We are in need of both a header image as well as a background. Both are important and are currently bland.

For the header, the image has to be 760 × 190 pixels. Anything bigger will be cropped. The header can be made up of a number of things, ranging from art based off our new designs, to simply a logo based off of each series’ respecting styles. Users who decide to venture into the character direction be forewarned however; we’re trying to leave behind the old models, so things like screenshots or GMod poses of them are not what we’re looking for.

For the background, there’s no size limit. The only thing to remember is that the white message areas of the blog are going to be white, so the background should blend nicely into it. It should also not clash with the rest of the page; no wacky, neon colors or noisy visuals.

Yes. A couple users have pooled together some TF2 items to serve as 2 prize packs for the chosen winners. These include weapons, metal, paint, and even some hats. More details on the packs  will be made clear as interest in the contest grows

This transition is a little awkward and we’re not sure we have a lot of people currently switching and keeping watch, so for now the deadline will be indefinite. As more and more people show interest however, we’ll be sure to set one as well as detail the prizes being offered.

So for everyone interested please head over to the forums under announcements and let us know if you’re interested in entering, or if you have any questions.

All the basics are down, but everything really needs some fine-tuning. Especially the design. If you’ve stumbled onto this, we’re still working on everything. The sub pages should be in working order however, albeit bare.

We’re working on it.
